the WMD thing was US intel not AUS
The Bush administration invented the lie about WMDs in Iraq, but Howard went along with it. This makes him just as guilty.

-the "childern overboard affair" was not aussie soliders throwing kids over those boats but the actual kids parents so how u blame howard is beyond me (i assume we are thinking of the same thing, but u were pretty vauge)
I didn't see Hawk23 say anything about soldiers throwing kids overboard . The point is that the children's parent DID NOT throw their children overboard at all. The entire thing was a lie developed by Howard just before the 2001 election.

-the "bribes" was a business practice called "kick backs" where amounts of money are paid to secure contracts (aka the Iraqie oil) "kick backs" arn't uncommon at all and happen in DAILY business practices.
Even if this is 'daily business practices' it is still illegal. The problem is that these payments (which totalled $300 MILLION) were being payed to a murderous dictator, just before the invasion of the country, and were approved by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. But when there was an inquiry into the scandal, Howard's ministers, including Alexander Downer the head of DFAT, and Howard himself all claimed to know nothing about it.

-the world had knowledge of that i would certainly hope that our goverment would ****ing know
Our government knew that the US was engaged in the use of torture which was in violation of international conventions, yet they raised no objections.

-DAVID HICKS should be done for treason, The man was a enemy combatint he even addmits it. Come on he flew over to the middle east and started working for extrimists. he didn't get a trial coz he was a POW and enemy combatants don't get trials. they get cells till the war is over or untill they get released.
If the US knew David Hicks was an extremist, they would have had no trouble convicting him and placing a restraining order on him after his release. There was also the fact that he was held for a long period of time, and that there was no civilian access to Guantanamo Bay, which rightly lead to concerns that he could be held in unsatisfactory conditions and possibly subject to inappropriate interrogation techniques (ie torture). The fact that Howard didn't care about this was what angered people.
