The truth be known the US spends 3-times as much on defense than any other group of nations (the combined EU) and could cut military spending by 2/3rds and still have the strongest military in the world.

Honestly, the decision of Russia to develope a new generation of nuclear weapons is definitely a step in the wrong direction and should be condemned, but considering the US is not willing to move at all in terms of disarming either it is absolutely justifiable...it's naive to expect anything else and hypocritical of the US to demand anything else.

I believe that the US has been developing its next generation nuclear weapons over the last decade as well. Of course neither the US or Russia really needs more nuclear weapons albeit the ones we have are getting old.
