Plain and simple, Howards power went to his head. He had control of the senate and used this power to push through legislation such as work choices, which was obviously electorally unpopular.

The man and the coalition were out of touch. Look at the swing in some safe coalition seats, i mean queensland used to be a national party strong hold, now they only have three seats in the state. And not to mention the amount of safe seats that fell to the ALP.

People were fed up with the lies and the ingnorance in which the government conducted themselves over the last term...although i wonder how long Kevin Rudds Labor party will last in office?
