First off, I don't think this teachers having sex with students is anything that started recently. I think people just don't hide it anymore. As for the male and female teachers being prosecuted differently for doing the same thing...that will probably never change. If anyone has ever see the episode of South Park where Ike is being sexually abused by his female teacher, when it is reported to the police they all think it is the coolest thing ever and don't want to do anything about it. I know women want to be treated equally, I know I do. But, women always pull the pity stunt and get away with it. If being treated equal means taking the bad with the good, then so be it. I really don't think everything that happens in the media with teachers sexually abusing their students will stop those that do...there are always going to be sickos out there. But as for prosecuting those that do, it should all be done the same.
